Commerce Lady Tigers, Tigers run away with Commerce track meet titles
COMMERCE — Both Commerce teams ran away with the team titles at the recent Commerce Invitational track and field meet.
The Lady Tigers won nine events on the way to a commanding victory in the varsity girls division. Commerce scored 212 points. Second place went to Blue Ridge (99), followed by Dallas Madison (79 1/2), Pittsburg (79), Prairiland (51), Daingerfield (45) and Quinlan Ford with 29 1/2.
Commerce claimed the boys team title with 192 points, followed by Blue Ridge (113), Daingerfield (95), Dallas Madison (83), Quinlan Ford (67), Clarksville (8) and Prairiland (5).
I’zaria Kilson led the way for the Lady Tigers with victories in the 200 (27.25 seconds) and 400 (1:02.90) dashes and the high jump (5 feet).
Cassidy Scandrett of Commerce won the girls 800 (2:38.94) and teammate Heidy De La Cruz won the 1600 (6:46.00).
Ayanna Kelly of Commerce took the girls triple jump (33-11 1/2), Kaelyn Morgan won in the pole vault (7-6) and Avery Haddock won in the shot put (32-1).
Commerce also won the girls 4x400 relay in 4:19.81.
The Commerce Tigers won the boys 4x200 (1:32.77) and 4x400 relays (3:35.67).
X’Zavier Hassell of Commerce won the 200 (22.95), Brandon Anderson took the 400 (51.93) and Alexis Trejo won the 1600 (5:15.42).
Malik Garcia leaped 45-10 to claim the triple jump.
Drelon Crosby of Commerce won the boys shot put (41-8).
Two Quinlan Ford Lady Panthers won events with Melanie Hernandez in the 300 hurdles (52.25) and Lillian Barraza in the discus (100-3).
Eli Murrillo of Ford won the boys 800 (2:15.77) and the 3200 (10:52.23).
Payton Wallen of Ford also won the boys discus (133-1).
