Coach Nick Nurse addresses Paul George's future status for Sixers
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers have been without Paul George since March 4 due to left groin soreness. He ended up leaving early in the fourth quarter of that matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves due to the issue that caused him to miss the March 3 matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers.
George has not played since the contest against the Wolves due to the groin issue and 9-time All-Star will now go see specialists to figure out the next move for both him and the franchise. With the Sixers sitting at 22-43 and their play-in tournament hopes fading, one has to wonder if George has played his last game in the 2024-25 season.
However, coach Nick Nurse isn't sure just yet.
"I don't know about that. I think that we'll have those answers, I don't know, Monday, Tuesday," Nurse said on Friday. "Early next week. So I don't think there's been any talk of it either way until we get to that point."
Obviously, there is a chance that George does return at some point this season and get some more game action in. However, when considering the injuries he has dealt with all season from the two separate bone bruises in his left knee to his left finger sprain to now the groin issue, it would make sense for him to sit out and get fully healthy for the 2025-26 season.
