The world is ready for the start of an international event so massive that soccer legend Lionel Messi and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes welcomed it at Los Angeles' BMO Stadium earlier in the week.
The World Cup will begin in 2026. It will feature teams worldwide representing Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Oceania, and the United States. The competition will be the first with the new format of 48, as the trophy was showcased proudly.

Mahomes continues to represent Adidas as the FIFA World Cup event's sponsor. He and Messi share that in common, along with their success in their respective sports. Last year, the three-time Super Bowl champion spoke about being nervous when he first met the soccer icon during an appearance on Logan Paul's "IMPAULSIVE" podcast.
Arrowhead Stadium is one of the 16 venues that will host games during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Chiefs' home field will host six matches, including four group stage matches, one Round of 32 match, and one quarterfinal match.
