At Chelsea, the focus is now very much on the football taking place on the pitch.

We’re into the exciting final stretch of the league and one step from the Conference League semis. There are two games a week and a lot to think about.

But over the almost 3 week international break we just suffered, when there were no games to play, our attentions were on very different matters. A key issue that kept being raised was the future of Jadon Sancho.

The winger’s poor form leading up to the break were leading to serious discussions about his future, especially when it was uncovered that Chelsea could send him back to Man U and break their obligation to guy for £5m, essentially turning this year’s move back into a simple loan with a fee.

There has been plenty of debate about whether they could or would do that, with most concluding they would buy him, even if the long term plan was to sell him on. But today’s piece from Simon Jones in the Daily Mail has added weight the other way.

Sancho’s future remains in the balance with rumours swinging either way

In a piece which focuses on Chelsea’s attempts to sign Jesus Rodriguez from Real Betis, Jones claims that Sancho “looks likely” to return to Man U in the summer, hence Chelsea looking at yet another winger to be added, with Geovany Quenda already lined up to join next summer from Sporting.

To be fair to him, Sancho added 2 assists last night. But the reality is that the reason he was playing at all is because Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke are going to be the ones featuring in the big important Premier League games from hereon out.
