Cavaliers' Jaylon Tyson finishes regular season with 31-point effort vs. Pacers

Jaylon Tyson set a new career high in scoring on Sunday, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers in a double-overtime loss against the Indiana Pacers to conclude the regular season.

Tyson produced 31 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in the 126-118 loss at Rocket Arena. He finished by shooting 12-of-25 from the field, including 4-of-12 from 3-point range, in a season-high 46 minutes in his third start.

The 20th pick became the 11th first-year player to score at least 30 points in a game this season. His 31 points were the most by a Cavaliers rookie since Isaac Okoro on May 4, 2021 (32).

Tyson finishes the season averaging 3.6 points and two rebounds on 34.5% shooting from 3-point range in 47 appearances. He surpassed his previous season high of 16 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, set on Nov. 20 in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 22-year-old also played eight games with the Cleveland Charge in the G League, averaging 18.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.4 steals on 42.9% shooting from 3-point range. He recorded his best game on Dec. 8 with 25 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Tyson played sporadically this season, with several players ahead of him on the depth chart. However, he showcased his overall talent when called upon and impressed several individuals in the organization throughout the season in the process.
