The two reigning champs now ride for the same small, rider-owned surf accessories company. Today, Veia Supplies announced it had signed 2024 world title winner Caity Simmers to its team, and will be supplying, for lack of a better word, her with all the leashes, traction and board bags she can carry.
Veia was founded in 2022 by John John Florence, Jon Pyzel, and Pyzel Surfboards CEO Dan McNamara. Caity previously stomped on traction pads from Rage, co-founded by Noa Deane, Creed McTaggert and former Skeggs bassist Toby Cregan.
This is an incredibly savvy pickup by the Veia team. Even with John stepping away from the Championship Tour, they’ll still have brand visibility from one of the best surfers in the world. How’s this for competitive acumen—injust her third season, Caity has won six events and a world title. But not only does she have the tools to win most CT events, she also creates and edits original and uncontrived freesurfing content. One of the brand’s co-founders released an informal but positively giddy statement online.
