Bruins' Jakub Lauko Opens Up About Being Traded Back To Boston
Before the 2025 NHL trade deadline, the Boston Bruins brought back Jakub Lauko from the Minnesota Wild as a part of the Justin Brazeau trade. This was after the Bruins traded Lauko and a fourth-round pick to the Wild in exchange for Vinni Lettieri and a fourth-round pick this past June.
Lauko has fit right back in nicely since being re-acquired by the Bruins. In five games, the gritty winger has two assists, six penalty minutes, and 20 hits. This is after he had three goals and three assists in 38 games with the Wild before the trade.
While speaking with Bruins reporter Eric Russo, Lauko discussed how he has been feeling about returning to the Original Six club.
"It feels familiar, obviously," Lauko said. "The personnel in the locker room changed a lot, but people (are) around. The core guys, Pasta, C-Mac, those guys stay the same. So, it's been a nice transition. Obviously, better to go somewhere I know than to go somewhere to the completely unknown."
It is easy to understand why Lauko is happy he was dealt to a team he already knows well. While the Bruins have moved on from several players since last season, there are still a handful of players remaining, as Lauko noted. Besides David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy, Lauko has also previously played with other Bruins like Morgan Geekie, Jeremy Swayman, Pavel Zacha, Mason Lohrei, and Parker Wotherspoon.
Lauko will now look to help the Bruins end the season on a high note. He has been solid in his first few games during his second stint with the club, providing some depth offensive production and plenty of grit. Let's see if the pending restricted free agent can keep this up from here.
