Bruins' Elias Lindholm Gets Real After Latest Embarrassing Loss
The Boston Bruins suffered one of their ugliest losses of the season against the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 15. The Bolts defeated the Original Six club by a 6-2 final score. The Bruins also failed to record a shot during the second period and finished the game with only 12.
Following the game, Bruins forward Elias Lindholm was honest when speaking to reporters about the team's poor effort.
"Not really sure what happened in the second there. It was embarrassing," Lindholm said. "The compete level was nowhere to be found. Yeah, unacceptable overall, and it's frustrating for sure."
Lindholm also understood why the Bruins fans at TD Garden booed them off the ice during the second period.
"Yeah, you always want to play hard at home," Lindholm said. "The fans certainly pay a lot of money to come here and watch us play. Obviously, they have every right to boo when the effort is like that... Tonight, [our play] was unacceptable, and we deserved to get booed. Second period was the worst I've seen us play this year."
It is hard to disagree with Lindholm's comments on the Bruins' play. It was a terrible night for the Bruins, especially when noting that it is very uncommon for an NHL team not to get a single shot during a period.
While the Bruins had an awful game against the Bolts, Lindholm did contribute offensively in the loss. The 30-year-old center scored a goal and recorded an assist, extending his point streak to three games.
