Bronny James comments on his development this season
There has been a lot of criticism about how the Los Angeles Lakers have handled Bronny James this season. He has shuttled back and forth between the G League and the NBA, and many feel he should remain in the G League full-time.
After all, he has shown increasing promise and growth down there, and staying there on a regular basis would give him an opportunity to focus on his development without the pressure of winning games or having the spotlight on him.
Of course, there are also a few people who think James should get more playing time in the NBA. With the Lakers severely short-handed on Friday against the Denver Nuggets, he played 16 minutes, and while he hit a 3-pointer in the first quarter, he finished 1-of-5 from the field.
After that 131-126 loss to the Nuggets, the rookie guard talked about the growth he feels he's been experiencing and the work he has put in to make that growth happen.
“Putting in the work behind the scenes, it’s just been very good for me. I worked all summer before that draft. I'm still working right now. I can see improvement and it’s been going well for me”

James has reached the 30-point mark twice in the G League — once during the tip-off tournament and once during a regular season game versus the Rip City Remix on Jan. 24. In nine regular season games with the South Bay Lakers, he's averaging 20.6 points, 5.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds a game while shooting 43.4% from the field and 3.61% from 3-point range.
