Avonte Maddox departs Eagles to sign a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions
The Avonte Maddox era is over in Philadelphia. The former Eagles cornerback is heading home to Detroit to play for the Lions.
Maddox was cut last off-season and re-signed on a one-year deal. The veteran cornerback started the first four games in the slot but was replaced by star rookie Cooper DeJean during the Week 5 bye and played a reserve role the rest of the season.

Maddox leaves the #Eagles after seven seasons.
Maddox finished the 2024 season with 20 total tackles (nine solo) while also adding five passes defended in the regular-season games. Maddox played in all 17 of the Eagles' regular-season games in 2024 after being limited to 13 contests over 2022 and 2023 combined.
