Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen would consider a call-up to the England squad given his mother is English.

The stopper, whose club record streak of 683 minutes without conceding ended in Saturday's 1-1 Bundesliga draw at Hoffenheim, could also play for Germany through his father and has represented his birthplace in youth football.

But with England appointing German Thomas Tuchel as coach, the chances that he will notice a Bundesliga player have increased.

"Sure. Why not?" the 27-year-old Dahmen told broadcaster ZDF late on Saturday.

"If someone were to call me, I would definitely think about it. But for now, it’s not the right time."

Dahmen even spoke in English on the German show to demonstrate his double life.

England had second-tier keeper James Trafford in Tuchel's first squad, underlining the dearth of back-ups to Jordan Pickford.

Germany have also had to contend with a long-term injury to Marc-André ter Stegen following Manuel Neuer's international retirement.

Germany coach Manuel Neuer recently overlooked Dahmen for his squad, with Manchester City reserve Stefan Ortega called up as third keeper behind Alexander Nübel and current number one Oliver Baumann. But Dahmen was informed that he was next reserve.

"I wouldn’t have expected to be on the radar of a national team so early," added Dahmen, who is in his second full season as Augsburg's main keeper.

"I really haven’t thought about it (switching to England), but I also don’t want to rule anything out. Hopefully things will continue to go well with Augsburg, and then at some point, I’ll hopefully be able to give it some thought."

Augsburg are eighth in the Bundesliga and hunting a European spot.
