Atlético Madrid star trains individually ahead of Barcelona clash
Atlético Madrid star Koke was spotted back out on the grass in individual training on Thursday.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.
Atlético, of course, are fresh off an evening to forget on Wednesday.
After welcoming city rivals Real Madrid to the Metropolitano for the return leg of the Champions League Last-16 tie between the clubs, Diego Simeone’s troops were sent packing by way of a penalty shootout defeat.
Watching on from the sidelines en route to as much was club captain Koke, sidelined for the last month owing to a muscular injury.
On Thursday, though, the midfielder managed to play his part in an individualised training session, ramping up efforts towards a return to competitive action.
Whilst the rest of Atlético’s squad were given the day off after 120 minutes of intense competition last night, Koke was put through his paces by physical trainer Óscar Pitillas.
The hope in the Rojiblancos dressing room, in turn, is that the club’s captain will be available for selection to face Barcelona this weekend.
