Arizona Cardinals will still face WR Cooper Kupp twice in 2025
The Arizona Cardinals will still have to face receiver Cooper Kupp twice a season. Kupp was released this week by the Los Angeles Rams in a cost-saving move, making him a free agent. A number of teams were vying for his services, but an NFC West rival won out.
He agreed to a three-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks worth $45 million.
He joins a new-look Seattle offense. Sam Darnold is now their quarterback after they traded Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. They traded receiver DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers and released receiver Tyler Lockett.
Kupp will now get to face his former team twice a season, as well as the Cardinals.
Kupp has not played a full season since his magical 2021 season when he was Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP.
After his 145-reception season for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2021, he has not played in more than 12 games in a season. His yardage output has dropped since then from 810 to 737 to 710 last season.
But, paired with receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba, the Seahawks do have a very talented duo of receivers.
Kupp has great career numbers against the Cardinals. He has more receptions (76) and receiving yards (881) in 14 career games (11-3 record) than he has against any other team. His five touchdown receptions against Arizona are tied for the most he has against any team in the league, tied with Seattle, against whom he won't be able to score anymore.
So the Cardinals aren't rid of Kupp yet.
