Florida State softball (36-6, 11-1) ended the spring weekend in a dominating fashion by taking down Virginia (26-12, 7-7) 13-2 in five innings. Despite a shaky game one, the Seminoles won the last two to clinch another ACC series.
FSU picked up where it left on Saturday. FSU coach Lonni Alameda wanted her Seminoles to start strong, and they answered the call.
The Seminoles produced seven runs on only two hits in their opening inning. Getting runners base set up Angelee Bueno's first career grand slam. She finished the day with two hits and four RBI.
The Seminoles added two more runs the next inning and four more in the third. Shelby McKenzie and Katie Dack each added two RBIs, while Michaela Edenfield, Addie DeLong, and Kennedy Harp had one RBI. Jaysoni Beachum led with three hits.
The Cavaliers made their last attempt to keep the game alive by hitting back-to-back home runs, but the game was already determined after they were shut out in four of the five innings.
