Ange Postecoglou cast doubt on Tottenham future as club considers managerial change

Totteham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has cast doubt over his long-term future at the club amid talks of a potential managerial change in the summer.

The Australian’s future has been a hot topic in the Premier League, with Spurs going through one of their worst-ever campaigns in the top flight.

Postecoglou shrugged off speculation surrounding his future, claiming that he is not concerned by debates over his job security.

He insisted that potential managerial changes do not faze him, although he admitted that there are other “outstanding candidates” available if Spurs decides to move in a different direction this summer.

Tottenham have been plagued by injuries this season, and it has significantly derailed their campaign, which is one of the reasons why the club hasn’t pulled the trigger on the former Celtic manager.

However, calls for his sack reached a fever pitch when Tottenham fell to a deflating 2-0 defeat against London rivals Fulham before the international break.

In the midst of growing speculation, Postecoglou has chosen to focus on the remaining games of the season.

“I know what my responsibilities are,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports. “I’m sure if the club decide to go in a different direction, there are some outstanding candidates out there for it.

“And you know what, maybe somebody will think, ‘Ah Ange Postecoglou’s not a bad coach, maybe we’ll take a punt on him’.

“It doesn’t rock my world, it doesn’t consume me. I am here and passionate about what we are doing.

“I was brought in to change the way the club plays, rejuvenate the squad and bring success. I am focused on that and that’s what I’ll keep doing.”

Postecoglou’s comments come after former Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed his desire to return to the club one day, although rumours of a potential reunion have been squashed.

Tottenham’s performance in the Europa League could decide Postecoglou’s fate, with the Australian expected to win the competition.

Meanwhile, Spurs take on Chelsea on Thursday night in the Premier League, hoping to get back to winning ways.
