All three local men's lacrosse teams record wins

The SUNY Oneonta men’s lacrosse team rolled to a 20-5 victory over SUNY Plattsburgh on Saturday.

After falling behind 3-0, the Red Dragons scored eight unanswered goals and would score the final 11 goals of the match after Plattsburgh pulled to within 9-5.

Fourteen different players scored goals for Oneonta in the win, with Jamie O’Neil and Anthony Munro leading the way with three apiece and Thomas Hnis and Vincent Herbstman both scoring twice.

Mark Restivo made 11 saves in net and Ryan Collins added another.

Oneonta (4-6 overall, 1-0 SUNYAC) will visit SUNY Canton on Friday.

SUNY Delhi 18, Husson 5 (Saturday)

SUNY Delhi took down Husson 18-5 at home on Saturday, scoring 16 unanswered goals to begin the game.

Jagger Beachak led Delhi with four goals while Chris Lazazzaro and Kyle Moore each scored twice. In goal, Jayden Messina and Matt Mulrooney combined for nine saves.

Delhi (6-3 overall, 1-1 NAC) will be at Marywood on Wednesday.

Hartwick 11, SUNY Brockport 9 (Saturday)

Hartwick held off SUNY Brockport for an 11-9 victory on Saturday. The Hawks withstood a 5-0 Brockport run in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Colin August had five goals and an assist for the Hawks with Spencer Hogaboom, Tyler Nocito, Garrett Frost, Liam Downey, Liam McManus and Matthew Locasto all finding the back of the net once.

Kaiden Johnson made 11 saves as the winning goalie.

Hartwick (3-4 overall, 1-1 Empire 8) will host Nazareth this Saturday.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

SUNY Oneonta 4, Ithaca 2 (Saturday)

Ithaca 6, SUNY Oneonta 1 (Saturday)

The SUNY Oneonta softball team split a doubleheader against Ithaca at home on Saturday.

Cailin Hall went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the opener while Sophia Mangone also went 2-for-3 and Emily Brown added an RBI.

Brown was also the winning pitcher, striking out four batters and allowing four hits and four walks.

Ava Thys drove in the Red Dragons’ only run in the second game and Mangone went 2-for-3 with a double.

Oneonta (6-10) will visit SUNY Canton on Friday for a doubleheader to open its conference schedule.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

RPI 8, SUNY Oneonta 6 (Saturday)

SUNY Oneonta 9, SUNY Brockport 9 (Friday)

The SUNY Oneonta baseball team fell to RPI 8-6 on Saturday a day after playing SUNY Brockport to a 9-9 tie.

Nick Jacoby and Joey Dwyer each drove in two runs in Saturday’s loss and Logan Hutter went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Tom Roefaro and Joshua Martin combined to throw two-and-a-third innings of scoreless ball out of the bullpen.

Friday’s game against No. 25-ranked Brockport was called after 13 innings. Jacoby had three hits including a double and three RBI, Hutter and Alex Wurster each had three hits and an RBI and Dwyer went 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI.

Kyle Roper pitched seven innings, striking out seven while allowing five hits and two walks.

Oneonta (11-6-1 overall, 3-0 SUNYAC) will visit Hamilton on Tuesday.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

SUNY Oneonta 18, SUNY Potsdam 13 (Saturday)

The SUNY Oneonta women’s lacrosse team defeated SUNY Potsdam 18-13 on Saturday.

After Potsdam took a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter, the Red Dragons scored 10 unanswered goals to pull away.

Cassidy Moore and Lindsey Townes each had five goals in the win, Elizabeth Doherty scored four times, Mason Benvenuto registered two goals and an assist and Chelsea Dodenhoff finished with a goal and five assists.

Julia Hawkins and Margot Haring each made three saves in net.

Oneonta (3-6 overall, 2-0 SUNYAC) will host SUNY Cortland on Wednesday.

SUNY Brockport 17, Hartwick 5 (Saturday)

Hartwick dropped a 17-5 decision to SUNY Brockport at home on Saturday.
