With the NFL Draft only a few weeks away, former Longhorn Alfred Collins has become a popular name. The talented defensive tackle has been booking top-30 visits with teams across the league. Yesterday, that continued when he finalized a visit with the Miami Dolphins.
Collins is coming off the best season of his college career. During the 2024 campaign, he set career highs in total tackles with 55 and fumble recoveries with one. One a defensive line full of talent, he stood out and helped get the Longhorns two wins short of a national championship.
Due to his play, Collins was able to add to his trophy case. He earned Second Team All-American and First Team All-SEC honors, which helped raise his stock and drew the interest of NFL teams looking to add to their defense in the draft.
Working through this deep DT class. Alfred Collins has stood above the rest of the day-two guys so far.

Ridiculous measurables (6-6, 332, 34 5/8" arms), power to press-and-shed blocks, splits/absorbs double teams, knack for batting passes, alignment versatile. Motor runs hot. pic.twitter.com/cC5Q8D7VKr
If the Dolphins drafted Collins, he would fill a big need. Miami lost Calais Campbell and Da'Shawn Hand in free agency. That left with only Zach Sieler and Benito Jones set to return in 2025. Miami could also turn to Matt Dickerson and Neil Farrell, but they spent most of last season on the practice squad. Drafting Collins would give them a young player with high upside, and he wouldn't have to start immediately.
Although Collins isn't expected to be a first-round pick, he has received praise from analysts and scouts around the game. That includes NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, who describes Collins as a " dominant run defender with upside as a pass rusher. He has the ideal size, length, and motor for his position."
With that endorsement, the Texas native should hear his name called at some point during the draft. Whoever decides to pick him will get a talented player ready to prove himself.
