Alabama basketball guard Mark Sears named AP All-American for second-straight season
The lengthy list of accolades in the college basketball career of Alabama Crimson Tide guard Mark Sears got even longer Tuesday afternoon, as he was officially named a 2024-25 AP First Team All-American, marking the second consecutive season in which he received AP All-American honors.
A Second Team selection a year ago, Sears is one-of-five players to earn First Team All-American honors this year, joined by Duke's Cooper Flagg, Auburn's Johni Broome, Purdue's Braden Smith, and Florida's Walter Clayton Jr.. Flagg and Broome were the two lone unanimous First Team selections.
So far this season, Sears has started all 33 games in which he has played for Alabama, averaging 18.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game on 40.3% shooting from the field. Sears is also shooting a combined 33.8% from three-point range, along with 84.8% at the free throw line.
Alabama and Sears' next game will come this upcoming Friday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Robert Morris. The game will begin at 12:40 p.m. ET on truTV.
