Adoree Jackson: What to know about Eagles new cornerback. Can he fill Darius Slay's spot?
The Eagles continue to shop for low-cost players who struggled last season, reportedly signing former Giants cornerback Adoree Jackson to a one-year contract.
Jackson, 29, could be in the mix to start in Darius Slay's spot opposite rookie sensation Quinyon Mitchell.
Slay, who was released by the Eagles after five seasons in which he was selected to the Pro Bowl three times, signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Here are three things to know about Jackson:
Can Adoree Jackson be a starting cornerback for the Eagles?
Jackson, who turns 30 in September, should have a chance to win the starting job after both Slay and his top backup, Isaiah Rodgers, left in free agency.
Jackson, who's entering his ninth season after getting drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the first round in 2017 (18th overall), will have to compete with Kelee Ringo, who's entering his third season.
It's also possible the Eagles could move Cooper DeJean from nickel to outside, with Jackson possibly playing the Rodgers role as top backup. Jackson can also play in the slot, so if DeJean moves outside, Jackson could become the nickel.

Adoree Jackson lost his starting job last season
Jackson had been a full-time starter for his first seven seasons in the NFL. But last season, he lost the starting job to Deonte Banks and Cor’Dale Flott. Still, Jackson started five games and had 28 tackles and 5 pass breakups.
Jackson played 47% of the defensive snaps last season, by far the lowest of his NFL career.
Jackson was a top recruit at Southern Cal
In college, Jackson played both wide receiver and defensive back, and was also a return specialist. In the Holiday Bowl his freshman season in 2014, Jackson had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a 71-yard reception in the Trojans' 45-42 win over Nebraska.
As a junior, Jackson won the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation's best defensive back. The Titans selected him 18th overall the next spring. Jackson and Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown were teammates in Tennessee for two seasons before Jackson left to sign with the Giants after the 2020 season.
