Abdoulaye Doucoure suggested he is on the way out of Everton after scoring the match winner against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The Toffees got just rewards for their performance at the City Ground when Dwight McNeil played the attacking midfielder through on goal in the 94th minute of the game.

“I think we can’t have better than that, when you play a football game, to score a last-minute goal,” Doucoure told BBC Match of the Day. “It was a terrific moment for the team.”

The 32-year-old celebrated by pointing to his name on the back of his shirt, before pretending to sign a contract and putting his hands out in befuddlement.

It sent a not-so-subtle message to the club over his future, which could lie elsewhere after this season as his contract runs out in June.

“I can’t talk too much about that but it is maybe my last moments at the club and at the moment it is very quiet on the club side. I love this club,” Doucoure said.

“Since the moment I signed, always I want to stay. My contract is running out so let’s see what happens in the next couple of weeks but I love this club.”

Doucoure reiterated the point when he spoke to Premier League Productions after the whistle. “I had a couple of celebrations,” he said.

“At the moment, maybe it is going to be my last months at this club. I love this club and I try to do well.

“I met a kid this week and they ask me to do the celebration for him and I scored and I did it. I had the feeling today I was going to score and it was a top performance for us.”

On Doucoure, Everton manager David Moyes said: “He has done great since I have come back. His work rate is very good for us and we are really enjoying him.”
