A tight end? Jaguars pick do-it-all TE in latest 2025 NFL mock draft

In the latest mock draft from Pro Football Network, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected a tight end with the fifth overall pick.

Wait--a tight end? That's right, a tight end.

Owain Jones had the Jaguars selecting Penn State's do-it-all tight end Tyler Warren with the fifth pick.

"Tyler Warren is an incredible athlete whose long catch radius allows him to snag everything, while his crafty route running, physicality, athleticism, and mauling mentality would make him a pillar of the offense in Jacksonville, Fla.," wrote Jones.

Signing Johnny Mundt and Hunter Long in free agency won't stop the Jaguars from adding to the tight end position in the NFL draft, however, there are more pressing needs in the first round.

With that said, just about every team can benefit from having Warren and his skill set on the roster, which should mesh really well with what Liam Coen wants to do, specifically being multiple, or throwing a variety of looks at opposing defenses.

Warren had over 100 receptions and eclipsed the 1,200-yard mark last season. But his impact goes well beyond the passing game. Warren can line up across the formation, including out of the backfield, and he's a very capable run blocker.

When a tight end has that ability to impact the game in a number of ways, it adds a layer of unpredictability to an offense with that player able to fill wide-ranging roles.

Considering where the Jaguars' biggest needs lie and what we've seen in mock drafts up to this point, this would seemingly be an off-script selection. However, in Mel Kiper's latest mock draft, while he ultimately went in a different direction, he did consider having the Jaguars take Warren as well at fifth overall.
