5 Players and 2 Coaches Ejected After Brawl Breaks Out Between Pistons and Timberwolves: 'Things Went Too Far'

Five players and two head coaches were ejected from the Detroit Pistons vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game after a fight broke out on the court. 

The brawl kicked off between the teams during a tense second quarter on Sunday, March 30. The fight started as the Pistons were up 39-30 after Ron Holland, 19, was fouled for slapping the ball out from Naz Reid, 25. The pair exchanged heated words and Donte DiVencenzo, 28, stepped in between them, grabbing Holland’s jersey as 10 more players and some coaches joined in the scuffle, according NBA.com.

Pistons head coach J. B. Bickerstaff and Timberwolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni were also reportedly “screaming at each other” during the fight and had to be separated along with the members involved from each team.

Reid, DiVincenzo, Holland, Isaiah Stewart, Marcus Sasser, Bickerstaff, 46, and Prigioni, 47, were all ejected from the game, NBA.com reported.

In a video posted by the Bleacher Report on X, Reid is seen stepping towards Holland on the court and wagging his finger while speaking to him after he was fouled. DiVencenzo rushes forward in between them and puts his hands on Holland, who then slaps him away and steps forward to Reid. 

DiVencenzo steps up to Holland again and appears to put his hands on his neck and then several players are seen getting involved in the fight as security and coaches also jump in. 

Bickerstaff said during a press conference afterward, “Obviously things went too far … But what you see is guys looking out for one another, guys trying to protect one another … You regret obviously where all of it took place … But I thought our guys stood their ground and defended each other and had each other's back and those are non-negotiables in our locker room.”
