🚨 Vini heroics deny Colombia after scary injury for Alisson and Sánchez
A late goal from Brazil was enough to scrape by Colombia 2-1 during Thursday's World Cup qualifier. However, the health of Alisson and Davison Sanchez will remain the focus following a serious collision.
Scorers: Raphinha 6' (P), Vinicius 90+10'; Diaz 41'
As two heavyweights in the region with points and bragging rights on the line, this clash would always deliver for supporters and neutral fans.
Things got off to a lightning-quick start when Brazil opened the scoring via Barcelona's in-form star Raphinha. The No. 11 easily converted a penalty in under 10 minutes for his 50th goal contribution this season.
The early strike handed a significant confidence boost to the hosts. However, it was Colombia who dominated possession of the ball throughout the 90 minutes and that shift led to an equalizer.
Brazil were flat-footed and allowed the visitors to steal the ball just outside the box before it fell to Luis Diaz. The Liverpool star made no mistake in using his available space and time to drive a low roller home for 1-1.

WHAT A GOAL 🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/9vduuyEkbi
Things remained tense on the pitch as the two sides pushed for a late winner. None of the combined 10 substitutes could add a creative spark, and the dying moments saw both clubs handed an injury scare.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson and Galatasaray defender Davison Sanchez suffered a serious head collision. The Colombian notably appeared unconscious on the pitch. Both stars were subsequently substituted, but the incoming fitness updates will concern club and country.
However, more drama ensued in the dying moments. Vinicius Junio,r watching the clock count down, took it upon himself and scored from range to secure a 2-1 victory. The goal goes down as the second-latest winner in the history of the South American qualifiers.
The result means Brazil sit second in the standings while Colombia are sixth.
