📈 Power Rankings: Barcelona’s big win, Liverpool lose ground
It’s time for our Power Rankings to return with Barcelona buoyant after a big win and Liverpool on the slide.
Here are the 10 sides in our updated Power Rankings table.
📈 Power Rankings: Barcelona’s big win, Liverpool lose ground
10. Atletico Madrid (👎 Last week: 7)
Atletico Madrid have been a fixture in our Power Rankings table for some time but the Spanish side are now clinging to their place in the top 10.
Diego Simeone’s side have won just one of their last four – and even that victory ended in aggregate defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League. At the weekend, Atletico blew a 2-0 lead to lose to title rivals Barcelona in La Liga, a deflating result for the Rojiblancos. Leading by two goals after 71 minutes, it was a deflating result for Atleti.
There’s plenty to ponder during the international break.
9. Brighton (👎 Last week: 8)
Brighton slip one place but the unbeaten run continues.
It’s seven games without defeat for the Seagulls, who were unfortunate to leave Manchester City with only a point last weekend. Fabian Hurzeler’s side have moved themselves right into the picture for European football and appear to be timing their tilt at the top four perfectly. There are just two points between Brighton and the Champions League places.
8. Arsenal (👍 Last week: 9)
Arsenal edged out Chelsea 1-0 in an important London Derby on Sunday.
Mikel Merino’s goal earned the Gunners the points at the Emirates as the auxiliary forward found a winner. After a tricky period, the win gives Arsenal some vital breathing room from the Champions League-chasing pack below.
7. Roma (👍 Last week: 10)
Roma are one of the form teams in Europe right now with just two teams across Europe’s top 10 leagues boasting a better record across their last 10 games in all competitions.
Claudio Ranieri’s side ran into cruel luck in Europe as Mats Hummels’ 11th-minute red card contributed to their Europa League exit at Athletic Bilbao. However, I Giallorossi responded with a 1-0 win over Cagliari in Serie A.
🐺📈 In the big 5 leagues Roma have picked up the most points in 2025!

Six straight league wins – and 13 unbeaten – have lifted Roma within four points of the Champions League places. What a turnaround from the capital club.
6. Bayern Munich (👎 Last week: 4)
Bayern Munich saw their lead in the Bundesliga reduced to six points after being held at Union Berlin. An 83rd-minute equaliser from Benedict Hollerbach saw the capital club hold the league leaders to a draw.
A late Leverkusen fightback on Sunday was an ominous message that the champions are not done yet. Trailing 3-1 at Stuttgart, Xabi Alonso’s side turned the game around with Patrik Schick scoring a stoppage-time winner. A warning that Bayern still have a job to do.
5. Liverpool (👎 Last week: 3)
Have we seen the first cracks in Arne Slot’s Liverpool?
Hopes of a historic treble-winning season came to an emphatic end last week, after a Champions League elimination and Carabao Cup final defeat to Newcastle. The latter was a flat performance and there are fears over potential burnout from Slot’s thinly-used squad. Fortunately, their lead in the Premier League looks insurmountable.
Most goals for Liverpool this PL season:

16 — Mo Salah away

4. Inter Milan (👍 Last week: 6)
A huge win for Inter Milan maintained their lead at the summit in Italy.
Atalanta headed into the clash with Scudetto hopes of their own but were outclassed by the champions in Bergamo. Goals from Carlos Augusto and Lautaro Martinez did the damage for Inter, who remain three clear of Napoli in the title race.
3. Real Madrid (👍 Last week: 4)
Real Madrid remained in touch with Barcelona in La Liga after a hard-fought win at Villarreal. El Madrigal is never an easy trip and so it proved, with Carlo Ancelotti’s side made to work for the points.
After falling behind to Juan Foyth’s early opener, a double from Kylian Mbappe ensured the champions left with a win. This title race is going down to the wire.
2. Barcelona (No change)
What a comeback. What a result.
Two goals down with just 18 minutes left against Atletico Madrid, Barcelona were in danger of a damaging defeat to their title rivals. Instead, on a drama-filled night in the capital, the Catalans turned it around.

There was a huge slice of luck in Lamine Yamal’s deflected winner but Barcelona won’t care one bit. The title remains in their hands.
1. Paris Saint-Germain (No change)
Paris Saint-Germain might just be the most impressive out in Europe right now.
Fresh from dumping Liverpool out of the Champions League, PSG made light work of Marseille in Le Classique.
Marseille might be their nearest challenger in Ligue 1 this season but there’s a gulf between the Parisians and the rest. Still unbeaten domestically, this is shaping up to be an unforgettable campaign at the Parc des Princes.
