Will.i.am drops new song in endorsement of Harris
Rapper Will.i.am dropped a single Sunday night called “YES SHE CAN” while endorsing Vice President Harris in her race for the White House.
“Something's going on in America / People entertained by the predator,” he sings. “We used to be united in America / Now we divided in America.”
As he sings lyrics reminiscing on less polarized days of the country, scenes from the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the Capitol play in the music video. As he repeats the chorus line “Yes, she can,” scenes featuring protests for abortion rights and the American flag and Statue of Liberty appear.
“With Election Day just around the corner, I wanted to score the movement, and create a call to action, and a promise of what we can achieve together,” the Black Eyed Peas star posted alongside the song on Instagram. “Join me as we shine a spotlight not only on the journey of Kamala Harris and the change that's coming, but also on the everyday heroes and #PowerfulWoman who breathe life into the world. This is a celebration of resilience, hope, and unstoppable spirit.”
The anthem in favor of the Democratic candidate is a spin-off of his 2008 song, “Yes We Can,” which Will.i.am released to mobilize voters for President Barack Obama.
Will.i.am is one of the many celebrities to publicly endorse Harris.
This weekend, actor Robert De Niro publicly urged support for Harris at a tailgate party for the Philadelphia Eagles, and Will Ferrell spoke out in favor of the vice president in a Harris ad released this weekend.
