White House Correspondents’ guests prepare for the night at annual Garden Brunch
The annual White House Correspondents’ Garden Brunch welcomed hundreds of guests at the Beall-Washington House on Saturday as many squeezed in one last get together before the main event later in the evening.
Celebrities, journalists, politicians and even a local social media influencer flowed into the Georgetown mansion that normally sits empty most of the year. Despite the dreary weather on Saturday, the atmosphere inside was warm and lively.
Guests at the party grazed on a seemingly endless variety of offerings including a sizeable buffet, a breakfast bar with Yorkshire puddings, a juice bar, cocktails, lattes and an unassuming shelf in the corner stacked high with desserts.
The event was co-hosted this year by Tammy Haddad, Ruth Porat, Kevin Sheekey, Mark and Sally Ein, Symone Sanders-Townsend, Jon Banner, Craig Minassian and Franco Nuschese.
This marked the 31st year that the brunch has been thrown. Several at the party said they planned for the brunch to be their final event before getting ready for the White House Correspondents Dinner.
As the rain got heavier throughout the day, organizers passed out umbrellas and hats, with many female attendees graciously accepting the party favors as they tried to keep their hair dry.
Those seen in attendance included Sen. Chris Coon (D-Del.), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D), Anthony Fauci, Savannah Guthrie, Deborah Roberts, Al Roker, Dana Bash, Chris Wallace, Chuck Todd, Wolf Blitzer and Kellyanne Conway.
Show business figures who stopped by included Fran Drescher, Kyle MacLachlan, Linda Carter, Lauren Ash, Diedrich Bader, Jason Kravitz, Kevin McHale, Rufus Sewell and Gus Kenworthy. Local D.C. influencer Anthony Polcari was also seen walking into the party.
Speaking to The Hill, Ash, best known for her comedic roles on "Superstore" and "Not Dead Yet," shared how she was enjoying her first time at the White House Correspondents parties.
"It's fantastic. I had no idea that this was like a week long. This is like award season in LA," Ash said. "It's beautiful. It's so much fun. We're having a great time."
