Where will Vice President JD Vance live?
(NEXSTAR) — We know President Donald Trump will reside in the White House during his second term in office, and where First Lady Melania Trump and their son Barron Trump will reside — but what about Vice President JD Vance?
Like those before him, Vance will live on the grounds of the United States Naval Observatory.
The first to do so was Walter Mondale, vice president to President Jimmy Carter, in 1977. Located at Number One Observatory Circle in the District of Columbia, the space was built in 1893 and was first meant for the superintendent of the Naval Observatory.
Before the residence was available to vice presidents, they would live in their own homes, the White House explains. In 1974, Congress agreed to refurbish the house on the property of the Naval Observatory as a home for the sitting vice president.

Every vice president since Mondale has resided in the home, located nearly three miles from the White House, and Vance is set to do the same.
He will also have a set of offices in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building which is next to the West Wing on the White House premises.
Traditionally, the outgoing vice president would invite the incoming vice president to the residence before Inauguration Day. Vice President Kamala Harris, however, did not invite Vance to the official residence.
