Watch live: Trump's pick to lead FDA faces Senate confirmation hearing

Marty Makary, President Trump's pick to lead the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), will testify before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Thursday morning.
Makary, a prominent Johns Hopkins’s surgeon, has espoused contrarian views about the COVID-19 pandemic, including pushing back against lockdowns and advocating for herd immunity, regularly appearing on Fox News.
If confirmed, he will serve under the direction of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — a longtime vaccine skeptic — and play a role in how the administration responds to the bird flu virus, and how it handles investigations in the safety of vaccines and abortion drugs.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
