Watch: Officials give remarks on National Airport crash recovery efforts
Officials investigating the deadly plane crash outside of Reagan Washington National Airport earlier this week briefed the public Friday afternoon on where things stand in the recovery process.
The National Transportation Safety Board, which is leading the probe, has urged the public not to speculate on what caused the fatal collision Wednesday evening between an American Airlines passenger plane and an Army Black Hawk helicopter, which likely killed 67 people. Emergency response crews have thus far recovered more than 40 bodies and several aircraft parts, including the flight recorders, from the icy Potomac River near Washington.
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) and emergency response officials are expected to attend.
The update was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. EST.
