Watch live: House DOGE panel's first hearing targets improper payments, fraud
The House Oversight Committee's Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) panel will convene its first hearing Wednesday morning, weighing improper payments and fraud.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who chairs the subcommittee, announced the hearing last week — zeroing in on "fraudsters, organized criminals, malign foreign actors and even corrupt government employees."
"Every taxpayer dollar that goes to these criminals is one dollar less for hardworking Americans, who expect and deserve more from their government," she said in a statement. "The DOGE Subcommittee will work hand-in-hand with President Trump to root out waste, fix broken payment systems, and investigate fraud schemes."
"This hearing is a first step towards creating a government that actually works for the American people," Greene added.
The panel was created to work in conjunction with the Trump administration's Department of Government Efficiency, which is led by tech billionaire Elon Musk.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
