Watch live: Harris eulogizes Jimmy Carter at Capitol ceremony

Vice President Harris will deliver the eulogy for former President Carter on Tuesday, as he is set to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol.

The former Democratic president died last month at his estate in Plains, Ga., according to the Carter Center. He was 100 years old.

In a statement following his death, Harris said she would "always remember his kindness, wisdom, and profound grace."

"His life and legacy continue to inspire me — and will inspire generations to come," she wrote. "Our world is a better place because of President Carter."

While funeral events in the Peach State began Saturday, Carter's ceremony at the Washington National Cathedral is set to take place Thursday. President-elect Trump, whom Congress certified as the official 2024 election winner on Monday, said he will attend the funeral.

Harris's remarks are expected to begin at 4:30 p.m. EST.
