Watch live: Biden White House holds likely last press briefing as Israel-Hamas ceasefire emerges
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday will hold what is expected to be her last briefing before President Biden’s term ends.
The briefing follows the news that a ceasefire and hostage release deal has been reached between Israel and militant group Hamas over its war in Gaza. The president gave remarks from the White House confirming the deal and announced that the remaining American hostages would be released as part of the plan.
The news comes amid a busy week for Biden as he bids farewell around Washington.
Biden is expected to give a goodbye address to the nation Wednesday evening from the Oval Office.
Later in the week, he’s expected to say goodbye to military members on Thursday and address the U.S. conference of mayors on Friday.
He will also make one of his last trips as president on Sunday when he goes to Charleston, S.C., though details of that trip have not yet been revealed by the administration.
The press briefing is scheduled to begin after 2 p.m. EST.
