Watch: House Democrats speak out against Trump agenda, mass layoffs

House Democratic leaders gave remarks Tuesday morning in opposition to President Trump's moves to overhaul the federal government.

Democrats have taken to holding town halls in GOP districts and rallies in the nation's capital to push back against Trump's sweeping executive actions seeking to reduce government spending and implement mass layoffs across the federal civilian workforce. They have also railed against moves they argue would upend programs such as Social Security and Medicaid.

The event, led by Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), came as Democrats fight against the GOP's plans to force through the president's legislative agenda through reconciliation.

The press conference was scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. EDT.
