Turnout tracker: How many people have voted in the November 2024 general election?
AUSTIN (KXAN) — With early voting underway in Texas, KXAN is keeping track of how many Texans have voted in the Nov. 5 general election.
Millions of Texans are expected to vote. In addition to the top-of-the-ticket presidential race, Texans will also choose who will represent the state in the U.S. Senate, as well as several statewide and local races.
Early voting runs from Oct. 21 through Nov. 1. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.

- These are the reddest and bluest counties in Texas, based on recent election results
More than 18.6 million Texans are currently registered to vote, according to the Secretary of State's office. So far, 1,032,946 votes have been cast, for a statewide turnout of 5.55%.
In the 2020 presidential election, 66.73% of registered voters in Texas cast a ballot, up from 59.39% in the 2016 election. Here's how turnout this year compares to recent presidential elections.
Directly comparing this year's turnout to 2020 is tricky because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on that election. The early voting period in 2020 was extended to 18 days, compared to the typical 12 days.
The maps below show turnout in each of the state's 254 counties, based on data from the Secretary of State's office. Hover over a county (or tap if using a mobile device) to see the data. You can also search for a specific county in the top left of the map.
Harris County has reported the highest number of votes, with more than 150,000. Dallas County is second, with almost 70,000. Four other counties have reported more than 50,000 votes: Bexar, Tarrant, Denton and Travis.
Fifteen counties have surpassed 10% turnout so far. Jeff Davis County has the highest turnout, at 12.9%, followed by Llano and Kinney counties, both at 12.55%.
Local turnout
Across the 15-county KXAN viewing area, there are 1,808,591 registered voters. More than half of those are in Travis County, while Williamson County accounts for about a quarter of all registered voters locally. About 10% of registered voters in the area live in Hays County.
The chart below shows turnout in each of our local counties.
Turnout locally is highest in Llano County, at 12.55%, and lowest in Hays County, at 1.23%. Areawide turnout is at 6.09%.
