Trump touts Florida county flipping to Republican in voter registration majority
President Trump celebrated the Florida county of Hillsborough after its voter registration majority flipped from Democratic to Republican.
“Another very big and successful week of WINS for Republicans in the Great State of Florida! Florida’s third largest County, Hillsborough, has FLIPPED RED to a Republican Majority in Voter Registration, and Republicans now lead in a total of 58 out of 67 Counties across the State,” Trump posted Monday to his Truth Social account.
Hillsborough County is located in west-central Florida, encompassing Tampa and St. Petersburg. It has a population of nearly 1.5 million.
According to the county’s voting site, Republicans took the majority with 301,967 people registered to vote. Registered Democrats trail nearly behind with 301,337 voters.
There are 274,388 “other” registered voters in Hillsborough County.
Florida, Trump's home state, has been trending red in recent elections. In the 2024 presidential election, Trump earned 56 percent of the votes, compared to former Vice President Kamala Harris's 43 percent.
Trump touted the endorsements made to GOP candidates, including the two Republican candidates who won their primary races for open congressional seats.
Jimmy Patronis won the GOP nomination to fill former Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-Fla.) seat, and state Sen. Randy Fine also won the GOP nomination in a special election to fill former Rep. Mike Waltz’s (R-Fla.) seat after he joined Trump as national security adviser.
“Both Jimmy and Randy again have my Complete and Total Endorsement in the upcoming General Election on April 1, which they will win in a Landslide,” Trump’s post said.
“THANK YOU FLORIDA—MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” he concluded.
