Trump says Joe Rogan hasn't extended podcast invite
Former President Trump says he has not been asked to be a guest on Joe Rogan's popular podcast, nor has he asked to sit for an interview with Rogan.
"I don’t think there was any tension. And I’ve always liked him, but I don’t know him," Trump said of Rogan during a conversation with Lex Fridman, another podcaster popular among conservatives.
"I only see him when I walk into the arena with Dana [White] and I shake his hand. I see him there, and I think he’s good at what he does, but I don’t know about doing his podcast. I guess I’d do it, but I haven’t been asked, and I’m not asking them. I’m not asking anybody."
Trump, the Republican nominee for president, over the past several weeks has participated in a slew of interviews, videos and sit-downs with leading right wing internet influencers and social media celebrities.
Rogan, who has amassed an audience of tens of millions and inked lucrative deals with audio giant Spotify, routinely sparks backlash with controversial comments on issues ranging from COVID-19 to climate change and the debate over antisemitism.
But his politics are somewhat unpredictable, with the host endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in 2020 and indicating his support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. before the independent dropped out and endorsed Trump last month.
Trump called Rogan "sort of a liberal guy, I guess, from what I understand," during his chat with Fridman.
"But he likes [Robert F.] Kennedy. This was before I found this out, before Kennedy came in with us. He’s going to be great," Trump said. "Bobby’s going to be great. But I like that he likes Kennedy."
Trump — when he appears on Fox News and with conservative internet personalities — has ridiculed mainstream media outlets like ABC and CNN over its coverage of him and his campaign.
The former president has separately blasted Vice President Harris, his opponent in the fall presidential election, over what he says is a lack of interviews, unscripted remarks and other live events.
Harris participated in a wide-ranging interview with CNN last week, and the two candidates are slated to take one another on directly in the second presidential debate of the election cycle next Tuesday on ABC.
