Trump noncommittal on second debate with Harris
Former President Trump on Tuesday would not commit to a second debate against Vice President Harris immediately after their first showdown.
Trump repeatedly asserted that he won the debate, arguing the fact that Harris's campaign quickly called for another debate meant they felt they had not done well.
"I have to think about it, but if you won the debate, I sort of think maybe I shouldn’t do it. Why should I do another debate?" Trump said on Sean Hannity's Fox News show.
"You know what happens, when you're a prizefighter and you lose, you immediately want another fight," Trump added.
He added that he would consider another debate "if it was on a fair network."
Trump and Harris held their first debate Tuesday night, hosted by ABC News. The vice president repeatedly attempted to get under Trump's skin, often succeeding as he went on tangents about crowd size, President Biden and other topics.
Harris’s campaign called for another debate moments after it ended.
“Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump?” campaign Chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a statement.
