Trump knocks Wall Street Journal over editorials: 'Some real CLINKERS'
President Trump on Wednesday complained that The Wall Street Journal is not supportive enough of his agenda, knocking a recent editorial the Rupert Murdoch-owned newspaper published on his trade policies.
"I don’t understand The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board, never have," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. "They come to my aid when I least expect it, sometimes strongly, and I greatly appreciate that — Very meaningful! But then they come out with some real CLINKERS, like today’s Editorial that my Auto Tariffs will hurt the Michigan Automobile Business."
Trump said auto tariffs "will drive massive amounts of auto manufacturing to Michigan" and argued with the Journal's editors, saying "Just let it all happen, and watch, it won’t be even close."
The president has railed against the Journal for months, blasting its billionaire owner, Rupert Murdoch, in the process.
The Journal has also criticized Trump over his pardoning of Jan. 6 defendants, his selection of Cabinet nominees and his removal of security details of former top government officials.
“I’ve been right over The Wall Street Journal a number of times,” Trump said during an Oval Office event earlier this month that Murdoch attended. “I don’t agree with him on some things.”
