Trump Jr.: I want people who 'don’t think they know better' than father in Cabinet
Donald Trump Jr. said he wants people who “don’t think they know better” than his father, President-elect Trump, to be a part of the Republican administration.
“I’m going to be heavily involved on the transition. I want to make sure now that we know who the real players are, the people who will actually deliver on the president’s message, the people who don’t think that they know better than the duly elected president of the United States,” Donald Trump Jr. said during his Thursday morning appearance on “Fox & Friends.”
“I want to make sure that those people are in his Cabinet. I want to make sure that those people are in this administration,” he added.
Trump is coming off a victory over Vice President Harris in the presidential election. He announced the leadership of his transition team in August. It is led by Linda McMahon, who was the head of the Small Business Administration during Trump’s first term, and Howard Lutnick, the head of Cantor Fitzgerald. Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), will be the honorary chair along with his sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
Donald Trump Jr. said in July that he would like “veto power” over staffing decisions in his father’s second term.
“I don’t want to pick a single person for a position of power. All I want to do is block the guys that would be a disaster,” he said.
Lutnick said in an interview earlier this month that prospective appointees in the next Trump administration will be brought on if they prove “loyalty” to the president-elect and his policies.
“They’re all going to be on the same side, and they’re all going to understand the policies, and we’re going to give people the role based on their capacity — and their fidelity and loyalty to the policy, as well as to the man,” he said, looking to avoid the high turnover rate seen during Trump's first term.
