Trump holds 5-point lead over Harris in Texas survey
Former President Trump holds a 5-point lead over Vice President Harris in the red-leaning state of Texas less than 30 days before Election Day, according to a new survey.
The poll, released Tuesday from Florida Atlantic University/Mainstreet Research, shows the GOP nominee outpacing Harris 50 percent to 45 percent among registered voters in the state. Some 2 percent sided with another candidate while 3 percent were undecided. The former president had the same advantage among likely voters.
While the two White House candidates are statistically tied with women, Trump leads Harris by double digits, 53 percent to 42 percent, among men. He is also ahead with white, non-college educated voters by more than 30 points, bringing in 63 percent to the vice president's 31 percent, according to the survey.
The advantage was much narrower among college-educated voters, where the GOP presidential nominee bested the vice president 56 percent to 42 percent, the data shows.
The latest survey also shows incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) leading his Democratic challenger, Rep. Colin Allred, in the Senate race by 3 points.
Another recent poll published Tuesday from the New York Times/Siena College found Trump ahead by 6 percentage points over Harris in Texas. Trump beat President Joe Biden in 2020 by over 5 percent in the state.
The Hill/Decision Desk HQ's latest aggregate of polls shows Trump with a 5.4-point lead over Harris, 50.8 percent to 45.4 percent.
The FAU survey was conducted Oct. 2-6 among 811 registered voters in the Lone Star State. The margin of error is 3.4 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.
