Trump celebrates end of Joy Reid MSNBC show: 'Finally'

President Trump says he is thrilled MSNBC host Joy Reid will no longer preside over a prime-time show on the network, a major change that comes as part of an overhaul of the channel's programming that is expected to be announced this week.
Saying the network has "finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television," Trump blasted Reid in a Truth Social post on Monday saying she "should have been canned a long time ago."
Reid, one of the most vocal Trump critics on the progressive cable channel, is having her show canceled as part of a wider retooling of the network's programming under Trump's second term, The Hill confirmed over the weekend.
Reid’s final show is planned for some time this week, a source familiar with the changes said, noting former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki is among the media personalities being considered to anchor one of the week’s prime-time hours.
The president in his social media post also took a shot at prime-time pundits Rachel Maddow and Alex Wagner, who recently took a special assignment covering Trump's first 100 days but will not return to her 9 p.m. hosting slot as part of the changes. Wagner will remain a correspondent with the network.
"This whole corrupt operation is nothing more than an illegal arm of the Democrat Party," Trump said. "They should be forced to pay vast sums of money for the damage they’ve done to our Country. Fake News is an UNPARDONABLE SIN!"
Trump has for years railed against MSNBC and other major cable networks he says do not cover him fairly.
The president has threatened to use the power of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to scrutinize Comcast, NBC Universal's parent company, over coverage of him and conservatives more generally.
FCC Chair Brendan Carr, who was appointed by Trump, penned a letter to Comcast leadership earlier this month saying he was planning to launch an investigation into the media conglomerate's policies on diversity, equity and inclusion.
