Trump: Barron's future may be in technology instead of politics, business

President Trump suggested that his son’s future might be in technology instead of in following his footsteps in the politics and business fields.
Trump was asked by Fox News host Laura Ingraham about his youngest son, Barron Trump, and what the commander in chief sees him pursuing in the future during a wide-ranging interview that aired Wednesday, a day ahead of Barron Trump’s birthday.
“Maybe technology,” the president responded, arguing the younger Trump knows how to operate a computer better than his dad.
"I turn off his laptop … I go back five minutes later, he's got his laptop. I say, 'How did you do that?' 'None of your business, dad,'" the commander in chief said.
“He’s got an unbelievable aptitude in technology,” he told Ingraham.
Barron Trump is a first-year student at New York University’s Stern School of Business. During the 2024 presidential campaign, he was praised by his dad and others for helping connect the then-Republican nominee to younger voters through appearances on popular podcasts.
“I’m very proud of him about his knowledge, even about politics and giving an advice to his father — he brought in so many young people. He knows his generation, because nowadays the young generation, they don’t sit in front of TV anymore,” first lady Melania Trump said in early December.
“He was very vocal, and he gave an advice to his father, and was incredible how he brought in a success because he knew exactly who his father needs to contact and to talk to,” she added.
Last year, Barron Trump was named one of 41 Florida GOP delegates ahead of the Republican National Convention. He also made an appearance at his father’s July 2024 rally in Doral, Fla.
“That’s the first time he’s done it. That’s the first time, right?” President Trump said about his youngest son during the event.
“You’re pretty popular, he might be more popular than Don and Eric, we gotta talk about this," he continued, referencing his older sons. "Hey Don, we gotta talk about this.”
