Trump backs MAGA loyalist Joe Gruters for RNC treasurer
President-elect Trump weighed in on the Republican National Committee (RNC) leadership roles ahead of internal elections, and Florida lawmaker Joe Gruters earned his support in the form of a Truth Social post.
“I am hearing that America First Patriot Joe Gruters, from the Great State of Florida, is considering running for Treasurer of the Republican National Committee,” Trump wrote in a Saturday post.
“An early and loyal supporter of MAGA, Joe was on the ‘Trump Train’ before it even left the station,” he added crediting Gruters for his three consecutives wins in the Sunshine state.
“As Treasurer, Joe would be a Fierce Advocate for our Great MAGA Movement, and would work tirelessly to ensure a highly functioning, fiscally responsible, and financially successful RNC,” Trump stated.
After the 2021 Capitol siege, Gruters, a former chair for the state GOP, was one of 17 state lawmakers who voted to contest President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win.
His support of Gruters comes in addition to his push for Michael Whatley to remain chair of the national party.
“I have asked Michael to return as Chairman of the RNC to continue to build our Party, and be a trusted partner as we Make America Great Again, and ensure Free and Fair Elections,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Republicans everywhere should support him as he continues his mission at the RNC.”
