Trump announces environmental advisory group led by his former consultant
President-elect Trump said he will create an environmental advisory group lead by his former environmental consultant.
“I am pleased to announce that Ed Russo, an Environmental Expert, will lead our Environmental Advisory Task Force, which will advise my Administration on initiatives to create great jobs and protect our natural resources, by following my policy of CLEAN AIR and CLEAN WATER,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social Friday evening.
“Together, we will achieve American Energy DOMINANCE, rebuild our Economy, and DRILL, BABY, DRILL,” he added.
Russo has worked as environmental consultant for Trump’s businesses, according to E&E News. He’s also the author of a book called "Donald J. Trump: An Environmental Hero."
Trump has repeatedly denied and downplayed, climate change, a major environmental threat.
During his first tenure, in addition to rolling back climate regulations, he reduced protections for the nation’s waters, excluded some chemicals from safety reviews and limited safety protections at chemical plants and offshore oil rigs.
