Trump ahead by less than 1 point in Michigan survey
Former President Trump leads Vice President Harris by less than 1 percentage point in the battleground state of Michigan, a survey from Emerson College Polling/RealClearWorld found.
The poll released Tuesday found Trump leads Harris among in support among voters in the state, 49 percent to 48.3 percent. Nearly 2 percent of respondents said they were undecided, while almost 1 percent said they plan on voting for a third-party candidate.
For the combined presidential vote, Trump leads Harris by a slightly smaller margin, 49.8 percent to 49.3 percent, the poll showed.
When asked whom they expect to win the presidential election regardless of whom they support, 49.5 percent said they expect Harris to win, compared to Trump's 49.4 percent, the survey found.
The top issues for voters in the state were the economy at 47.6 percent, immigration at 9.2 percent and health care at 9 percent. Threats to democracy sat at 8 percent, and abortion access at 7.7 percent, the poll revealed.
For respondents who had economy as their main issue, 63 percent broke for Trump, compared to the 33 percent who supported Harris, the poll showed. On immigration, Trump outpaced Harris by a wide margin, 96 percent to 4 percent.
Favorability ratings were nearly even for both candidates, with 49.4 percent saying that they viewed Harris either very or somewhat favorably, compared to 49.5 who said the same of Trump, the survey revealed.
Meanwhile, 50.7 percent said they viewed Harris somewhat or very unfavorably, compared to 50.4 percent who said the same of Trump.
The poll surveyed 1,000 likely voters Oct. 25-27. The margin of error was 3 percentage points.
