'The West Wing; cast hits the trail for Harris in Wisconsin
The cast of "The West Wing" visited Wisconsin to help the Harris-Walz team promote early voting Saturday. Actors made stops in Waukesha, Milwaukee and Madison, Wisc.
Actor Bradley Whitford kicked off discussions on the ground with voters alongside Martin Sheen, Dulé Hill, Mary McCormack and Richard Schiff.
“Get in the game. Make a substantive contribution,” Sheen said while amping up voters. “If you go down swinging, at least you took your shot. Just don't watch the pitch go by.”
The rest of his speech touched on policy initiatives like climate change and gun laws.
“Global warming constitutes a clear and present danger to the health and well-being of this planet and its inhabitants. If that concerns you, get in the game,” Sheen added. “If you're off the charts tired of the gun lobby tossing around words like, personal freedom nobody's calling on, get in the game.”
He urged voters to make a statement by casting their ballot.
“Remind the NRA that gun laws are not trying to take the guns away they're trying to stop the guns from taking our children away,” he told Wisconsin voters.
Former President Trump has a 0.3 percentage point lead in the state according to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s aggregate of polls.
Sheen, a lifelong Democrat, previously sounded the alarm on potential voter suppression during the 2024 election, describing some Trump supporters as "MAGA vigilantes."
In September, first lady Jill Biden hosted an event in honor of the show's 25th anniversary at The White House.
The Hill reached out to the Harris campaign for further comment.
