Texas FBI, local police 'conducting law enforcement activity' in connection to New Orleans attack
FBI Houston posted on the social platform X that its agency, along with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, are “conducting law enforcement activity” in north Houston in connection with the New Orleans attack.
Law enforcement officials will be on site for several hours, according to the post, as the “activity is related to this morning’s New Orleans attack.”
“[Due] to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further information can be provided,” the statement reads.
The announcement comes as authorities have said they don’t believe Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a U.S. citizen who drove a pickup truck into a crowd in New Orleans on New Year's, acted alone.
The Associated Press reported a state police bulletin that said surveillance footage showed three men and one woman setting up improvised explosive devices.
The attack killed at least 15 people and injured dozens more.
The FBI is investigating the event as a terror attack as the driver had an ISIS flag in the vehicle.
“My heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday,” President Biden said. “There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation’s communities.”
