Sunday shows preview: Top Harris, Trump allies make final pitch 9 days out from Election Day
Allies of Vice President Harris and former President Trump are setting out to make their final pitches as the election enters the homestretch.
With just nine days until Election Day on Sunday, Trump's running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance (R) is set to appear on CNN's "State of the Union," NBC News's "Meet the Press" and CBS News's "Face the Nation."
Vance has been on a campaign blitz for the former president and was recently in the news for a NewsNation town hall last week, where he fielded questions on a number of topics including the economy, immigration, abortion and the war in Ukraine.
Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) will also join CNN on Sunday, where she will likely tout her efforts alongside Harris to turn out right-leaning voters in swing states for the Democratic presidential nominee.
CBS News's "Face the Nation" will host Arizona State Secretary Adrian Fontes (D), who's state made headlines earlier this month after its Supreme Court handed a victory to backers of a ballot measure that would amend the state constitution to allow for open primaries, ruling that votes must be counted amid a dispute over signatures.
Arizona is a crucial battleground state for Trump and Harris, with the vice president narrowly outpacing the former president by less than 1 percentage point, 48.6 percent to 47.8, according to a polling index from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ).
Pennsylvania' Secretary of State Al Schmidt (R) is also set to appear on CBS's "Face the Nation" amid a decision made by the state's top court last week which ruled that state law provides voters whose mail ballots are rejected an opportunity to vote by provisional ballot, giving voters a second chance at participating in the upcoming election.
Harris and Trump are locked in an even tighter race in the key state of Pennsylvania, with Trump leading Harris by less than half a percentage point, 48.5 percent to 48.3 percent, according to a polling index from The Hill/DDHQ.
ABC News's "This Week" will host independent Nebraska Senate candidate Dan Osborn, who has been giving incumbent Sen. Deb. Fischer (R) a run for her money, leaving some Republicans concerned.
Dynamics in the state have shifted in recent weeks: Republican groups have started spending more in the race, and the nonpartisan Cook Political Report shifted toward the independent, which has moved from solid Republican to now leans Republican.
According to a polling index from The Hill/DDHQ, Osborn leads Fischer, 47.8 percent to 46.4 percent.
National polling from The Hill/DDHQ's polling index shows Harris leading Trump by less than 1 percentage point, 48.6 percent to 47.8 percent.
