Senate to consider foreign aid package including Ukraine aid: Watch live
The Senate will begin a floor session Tuesday morning expected to culminate in a procedural vote regarding aid for Ukraine and Israel later in the day.
That result will, in turn, determine whether the bipartisan legislation will get a final up or down vote in the Senate, potentially as early as Wednesday night.
Getting the four bills this far has been a tough fight both between the parties and within the GOP, in particular. The ultimate exclusion of border and migration policy from the package came at a political cost to Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.). Three Republican members have said they want to remove him from the Speakership because of the compromise.
One question remaining is whether the package might include amendments from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to place conditions on aid for Israel and restart support for a U.N. aid program in Gaza.
The session is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. EDT, with the procedural vote expected Tuesday afternoon.
