Scarborough: Democratic Party 'has been just wiped out this morning'
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said former President Trump's victory in the 2024 election is bigger than just retaining the White House for Republicans.
"The scope and scale of this victory is sweeping," the "Morning Joe" host said on his show Wednesday. "And we ... can focus on Donald Trump if we would like, but this goes so far beyond Donald Trump."
The morning talk show host pointed to a number of Republican victories in key congressional races, and Trump performing better than expected in longtime Democratic strongholds.
"Make no mistake, his victory — again, historic, but you look at Republicans across the nation," he said. "You look at how handily they're winning states."
"As Willie said, you look at Illinois, a 4-point mark, Illinois. A 5-point margin in New Jersey. This is a Democratic Party that has been just wiped out this morning," he added, referring to narrow Democratic wins in blue states.
The former president's decisive victory came overnight Tuesday after what many polls had predicted would be a tight presidential race.
Scarborough, one of MSNBC's leading pundits, is known for his criticism of Trump and warned viewers in the weeks leading up to Election Day of the threat he says the former president poses to democracy.
